Artist Morgan MacDonald and The Newfoundland Bronze Foundry donate a bronze bust to a Belgium farmer who is erecting a memorial on his property to commemorate the heroic action of Thomas Ricketts of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his selfless act of bravery near this farm.
The plaque was presented to Mr. D’Hont by Frank Gogos, manager of the Newfoundland Bronze Foundry and an associate of the Royal Canadian Legion on July 4, 2014 during a ceremony to pay respect to the Ricketts act of bravery. This donation was able due in part to the Caribou Pavilion Legion Action Committee for which the Newfoundland Bronze Foundry was working with to erect a memorial obelisk for the Jim Shields Memorial Garden.
In the photos are Jef Boeagart of Vichte, Belgium, Mr. D’Hont, Frank Gogos, Sharon Noaln, Director of the Caribou Pavilion and Ross Petten, President of the Newfoundland Provincial Command of the Royal Canadian Legion
